Part-time: 3-5 hours per day, 5 days per week

Business InstructorSummer 2011

This opening is for a full-time, tenure-track faculty position in Business to begin summer 2011 at John A. Logan Community College. The College is seeking a dedicated instructor who places student learning and student success as top priorities. Duties will include teaching a minimum of 15 credit hours per fall and spring semesters with departmental and institutional committee duties as assigned. Continuous professional development and participation in recruitment activities will be strongly encouraged.

A master's degree in business education is required; related work experience is desirable.

Competency in teaching medical terminology, medical transcription, and other business-related (particularly office technology) is required. Experience teaching medical coding (ICD-9-CM and CPT 10/HCPCS) is also preferred. Proficiency in the use of instructional technology, including the design and delivery of online courses, is required. Experience with business-related internships and practicums is desirable. Participation in related professional associations and/or professional certifications is also desirable.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in education, business or related field; two years' work experience in the area of financial aid administration and management information systems.

Summary of Position: The Dean’s position is responsible for guiding and directing the academic curriculum of the Division. The Dean will work collaboratively with colleagues to keep the curriculum dynamic and up-to-date for College transfer and health professionals. This position reports to the Vice President of Instruction and Student Services.

Minimum Qualifications: Master's Degree in one of the division disciplines (Math, Sciences, Health Professions) or Bachelor's Degree in one of the division disciplines with a Master's Degree in Educational Administration or related field.
