1098-T tax document now available online for RLC students

INA, Ill. (Dec. 17, 2019) — Rend Lake College students now have the opportunity to retrieve their 2019 Form 1098-T online.

The Taxpayer Relief Act of 1997 requires RLC to provide form 1098-T to students to report payments received and/or payments due from students. This information may be used to qualify for tax credits to help taxpayers pay for postsecondary education. The college has contracted with a specialized provider for electronic service.

IRS regulations state that each student who wishes to receive their 1098-T electronically must also provide his/her consent electronically.

To take advantage of this you must visit www.tsc1098t.com. Students who completed this process in prior years are already enrolled for electronic delivery and do not need to do anything.

The instructions are outlined below:

  1. Go to www.tsc1098t.com
  2. Enter the Site ID: 11453
  3. User Name: Your 9-digit Warrior Tag number
  4. Password: Last 4 digits of your Social Security Number

For security reasons, you will then be prompted to change your password. Enter your old password (last four digits of your SSN) and then enter a new password. The new password must be 7 characters and contain at least one numeric character.

Once you have entered your new password, you will be presented with the online consent form. Read the Online Consent Form for the requirements and specifications. If you agree, click on "Consent."

Once you consent, you will NOT be mailed a 1098-T and must return to the site after Jan. 30, 2020, to view/print a copy of your 2019 Form 1098-T. Your consent will apply to 2020 and subsequent years.

Taking advantage of this service helps reduce costs at RLC and lessen the environmental impact. If you have any questions, please contact John Gulley in the Rend Lake College Business Office.
