Schedules & Calendars
INA, Ill. (Aug. 14, 2017) – Changes are coming to Rend Lake College’s Fifth Annual Warrior Fest this fall with the addition of Preview Day for prospective students. Both events will be held from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 on the Ina campus.
Warrior Fest, an event which has historically featured everything from children’s activities to a car show to a vendor fair, is joining forces with Preview Day, an open house event, to bring more locals to campus. Details about each event are below, and more will be available in coming weeks.
Back by popular demand, main events at Warrior Fest will include a vendor fair, featuring local artists and merchants; children’s activities, such as Big Truck Day, safety seat checks, inflatables, free dental checks, and much more; a car show with proceeds going toward RLC Automotive Technology scholarships; and food and beverages served by students in RLC’s Culinary Arts program.
New this year will be a Demo Day, hosted by the RLC Golf Outlet on the putting range, located on the south end of campus. Many RLC clubs and organizations will also be on-hand serving snacks, offering services, and providing entertainment.
For more information about Warrior Fest, contact RLC’s Community and Corporate Education Division at 618-437-5321, Ext. 1714 or [email protected].
Last fall, the first Preview Day was held for students and their families to visit campus, take tours, meet and speak with faculty and staff, and have the chance to win a scholarship. This year won’t be any different.
Preview Day attendees should visit the Student Center to register for tours and prizes. While there, students can speak directly with faculty, staff, and administration about programs, admissions, financial aid, and more. Tours of campus for specific programs will also be available upon request.
To learn more about Preview Day, contact the Welcome Center at 618-437-5321, Ext. 1343 or [email protected].
Prospective students attending Preview Day will also have the chance to be entered into a drawing for a scholarship through the RLC Foundation, valued at $250. To enter into the drawing, students will complete a scavenger hunt on campus. The scholarship is non-transferable and must be used during the Spring 2018 or Fall 2018 semesters.
For more information about the scholarships, contact the RLC Foundation at 618-437-5321, Ext. 1214 or [email protected].

The vendor and craft fair will be held on campus, located between many family-friendly activities and the annual Car Show, both of which bring hundreds to campus throughout the day. Also new this year is the addition of Preview Day, an open house event for prospective students, which is expected to draw out many more.
Spots for the vendor and craft fair cost $10 each for a 12-by-12 foot space. Vendors can set up beginning at 8 a.m. Registration forms can be downloaded by clicking here. Forms may also be picked up or sent to interested vendors by contacting the RLC Community and Corporate Education Division at 618-437-5321, Ext. 1714 or [email protected].
Warrior Fest is rain or shine, and the booth fee is non-refundable. Food and beverages will be served by students in the RLC Culinary Arts program during Warrior Fest and Preview Day, which will also feature free children’s activities, the car show, and various events hosted by RLC clubs and organizations.
Food, beverages, fireworks, offensive videos or photos, illegal items, firearms, items that infringe upon registered trademarks, or anything that would harm RLC’s property or reputation are prohibited. RLC has the right to request items be removed from campus. All items must be removed from campus at the conclusion of Warrior Fest and Preview Day.

INA, Ill. (Aug. 16, 2017) – Spend the afternoon playing, learning, and exploring Rend Lake College’s campus with the whole family in the children’s area of Warrior Fest and Preview Day. The activities, hosted by the RLC Foundation Children’s Center (RLCFCC), will be held from 9 a.m. – 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7 on the Ina campus.
The RLCFCC will feature many free, popular items from past years, including a number of inflatables manned by RLC AmeriCorps students and Big Truck Day. At Big Truck Day, popular vehicles and equipment will return from years past, including tow trucks, dump trucks, fire trucks, police squad vehicles, ambulances, backhoes, combines, tractors, cement mixers, and much more.
Brooke May, RLCFCC Director, said Big Truck Day is always a highlight because it gives the children a chance to climb inside and play with out-of-the-ordinary vehicles, plus speak with the professionals who man them.
“It is important for the kids to get hands-on experience, because children learn through doing and seeing. When a child gets to touch the equipment, climb on it, and ask questions directly of the person who operates the equipment, it becomes a real, exciting experience,” said May. “Each child will remember climbing on a huge combine, rather than simply reading about one in a book.”
The children’s area also features several free events. RLC’s Project CHILD will offer car seat safety checks for parents and Dental Safari will be available for dental checks. A silent auction will line the hallways of the Academic Building to raise funds for updating security cameras at the RLCFCC.
Throughout the day, parents of students who attend or wish to attend the Children’s Center will also have a great chance to meet the center’s teachers and staff. A pre-registration sign up for potential students in the spring will also be available. The RLCF Children’s Center has been accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children for more than a decade.
For additional information about the children’s events or Big Truck Day, contact Brooke May at 618-437-5321, Ext. 1393 or [email protected].
